Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari Insight
Visit Parc National des Volcans (PNV) in the north of Rwanda where about 300 mountain gorillas live. There are five habituated gorilla families Amahoro A, Amahoro B, “Group 13”, Sabinyo, Umubano and Susa – each of the groups allows up to 8 participants per day. You can take part in Rwanda Gorilla Trekking, climb the Visoke volcano, track the golden monkeys or visit the Karisoke Research Centre, which Dian Fossey the famous primatologist set up, or visit local villages.
The Parc National des Volcans (PNV) is part of the Virunga Conservation Area and covers more than 125 km. PNV is home of five Virunga volcanoes: Sabyinyo (3.674 m), Gahinga (3.474 m), Bisoke (3711 m), Muhabura (4.127 m), and the Karisimbi, the highest volcano with an altitude of 4.507 m. All five volcanoes are extinct, the active ones are located in Congo. Two of them erupted recently; the Nyiragongo erupted in January 2002 and Nyamulangira in July 2002. DAY 1: Arrival Kigali – Parc Volcanoes
Arrive at Kanombe (Kigali) airport. Meet and greet before transferring to Kigali City. Drive the three hours North of Kigali to Kinigi through Ruhengere. Enjoy the rolling hills for which Rwanda is well known. DAY 2: Parc National des Volcanoes: Rwanda Gorilla Trekking
Transfer to Kinigi Park Headquarters to track gorillas in Parc National des Volcans. Gorilla tracking through the forest, hills and swamps can be tough, arduous and tiring, sometimes taking up to 8 hours in the forest. But coming face to face with the great primates is well worth the effort. DAY 3: In Parc National des Volcanoes
In Parc National des Volcanoes track the golden monkeys. After the trekking, lunch at Ruhengere and transfer to Kigali. On your way to Kigali, several stops will be made to admire the scenery. Rwanda is the country with over thousand hills! DAY 4: Kigali City Tour – Fly Out
